Match Review LS8 | Selangor FC 0-0 KL City FC | Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26

The Klang Valley Derby match of the 2025/26 Super League ended in a 0-0 draw at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya, yesterday.

The match saw an even 50% possession, with seven corners and nine attempts in total, but neither side managed to find the back of the net.

According to Selangor FC’s Head Coach Christophe Gamel, he was pleased with the players’ fighting spirit but emphasised the need for continued improvement.

“Overall, they showed a good performance. We could have won if we had been sharper in our decision-making, but I am happy, not with the result, but with the spirit and effort shown by the players. What’s most important is that they gave their all. In addition, there are seven under-23 players in the team, and they performed fine, fighting together on the field,” he explained.

“Derby matches are never easy, but we managed to finish it with one point, which is a positive sign, even if it wasn’t enough. Every match comes with pressure and strong competition, but I’m happy with the players’ response. I hope we can continue improving our performance to achieve better results in the upcoming fixtures,” Gamel added.

Next, Selangor FC will once again play host at the MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya, facing Negeri Sembilan FC in the second leg of the 2025/26 FA Cup quarter-finals at 9 p.m. Get your tickets at: #SFCNSE

Selangor FC’s management would like to express their gratitude to the 5,079 supporters who came to liven up the atmosphere at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya, while also supporting the Khind Great Fan Festival yesterday.
